Ring in 2018 With the Best New Year's Eve Parties This Weekend
On any normal week we'd post our regular Beijing Beats column and help you prepare for a Friday and Saturday packed with parties. But this of course is no ordinary week. With New Year's Eve landing on Sunday, the weekend looks to end with much more of a bang than usual, plus all the fun happenings in the days leading up to it. Here are the events to make your NYE all the more memorable as we head into 2018.

Jozef K, Jigsaw, and resident DJs
"A massive double headliner party for the Minimalist in their seventh year of residency at Dada Shanghai – taking it up to Beijing," as described by the promoters. Jozef K, resident DJ of Sankeys Ibiza, and a master spinner of tech-house is joined by DJ Jigsaw, an up-and-comer who has such notable accolades as playing Burning Man four years in a row and torn up dance floors at Glastonbury. 10pm. Tommy Cash
Call it Baltic boom bap. This burgeoning rapper was born on the eve of the dissolution of the Soviet Union, and has a sound that the promoters describe as "influenced by post-Soviet culture and Western rap music, his music blends Baltic and American culture." Migas New Year's Eve Party
Migas bids Sanlitun adieu with an NYE party that will double as their final event before shutting down to focus exclusively on their CBD Mercado venue (read more about that here). The coordinators say: “It’s definitely going to be a wild celebration with DJs from Club Paradise, Natural Flavor, and Migas’ own Tropicalismo spread across two rooms of musical goodness." There's gonna be a room for disco, house, hip-hop and party classics, while the other will feature reggaeton and Latin flavors. RMB 120. 9pm. Migas
Slow Boat NYE Party With Club Paradise
Escape the winter chill by tipping craft brews back at this tropical themed party. DJs Gary Boozy, Ted Dancin', and Mookie-she will provide the funky fun soundtrack at the Sanlitun brewpub. The promoters say: "All-night specials on select seasonal beers, tropical cocktails, complimentary sparkling wine for the countdown, and free shots for those decked out in their best beachwear." Vinai
Vinai is brothers Alessandro and Andrea Vinai, an EDM production and Italian DJ duo formed in 2011. Some of their biggest songs include "How We Party" and their remixes of Nicki Minaj's "Pound The Alarm" as well as LMFAO's "Sexy And I Know It". Price TBA. 10pm. One Third
Hollywood Countdown Party
Count down the New Year way up in Beijing's highest bar. This year, Atmosphere will host a Hollywood-themed NYE party, for which the promoters encourage you to: "Dust off those retro party gowns and root suits and get ready to boogie down!" RMB 300. 9pm. Atmosphere
'70s Disco and Cheese-Fondue New Year's Eve Party
Don't just get boozy this New Year's Eve, fill up on the delicious bites being served up at this hutong venue. Zarah's NYE party features a free flow buffet of fondue dippers, appetizers, and desserts. This early evening party is a great option to get your night out off to a strong start, especially if you like '70s disco. Free. 7-10pm. Zarah
Great Wall Snow Festival
If you don't feel like partying in a club, here's the polar opposite: A huge NYE bash on the Great Wall! You can also work up an appetite for booze and eats by skiing the day away earlier on.
